EXTRA CREDIT STUFF
LANGUAGE ARTS
*AR points! All points earned past goal are extra credit, the more you read then the more extra credit you get (up to 5% of total grade)
*800 to 1000 word essay, explaining where we got our present calendar, and explain why we have September, October, November, and December, when their names mean 7, 8, 9, and 10, and they are 9, 10, 11, and 12 on the calendar. (1/2 grade increase!—5%) – can only be done once in the school year
*Take the Vocabulary Tests on your AR books for extra credit points (up to 5%)
*Write a response to a live or recorded play: Must clear it first—only one per quarter and it must be a different play each time (points to be determined-not more than ½ grade increase)
*Do a RIGOROUS project (see me for more details: it must involve a speech, writing, reading, listening in some combination) 5% grade increase
*AR Seasonal Books or AR Language Arts Non-Prose Book Reports.

*Make a layered detailed map of Pinnacles National Park using the different energy systems (hydrosphere, lithosphere, atmosphere, biosphere) and human-environment interaction--5% grade increase possible

*Write a research paper on a subject that interests you from our 6th grade social science curriculum and integrate earth science, math, music, art, or physical education, the report must be 800 to 1000 words--5% grade increase possible
*Do a book report on a history book related to 6th Social Science (ancient civilizations, mapping-see the rail on the white board) and take the AR test on it if it exists (click here for the form)
